Win free stuff! What do you have to do? Simple:
1. Look through the banners below and figure out your favorite.
2. Go to the poll on the right and let me know which one you like.
3. Leave a comment on this post.
That's it. Clicking a couple buttons and posting "I voted" is enough. You're also welcome to share your reason for voting as you did or otherwise give feedback and commentary. (Entrants, the rule about anonymity still applies until closing. So no posting "I voted for X because it is mine!" :-P )
Many sites will do a contest like this and ask that you Follow them to win... I'm not. I invite you to take a look around and see if there's anything you like, but there's no burden to stick around unless you want to. I do this blog for personal fun and it's not like I'm trying to drive up ad revenue or something.
What can you win? Off the bat I have a three pack of sculpting tools that will go to some lucky voter. If there's enough entrants, I'm lief to go digging through my closet see what other fun things I can come up with too.
So a couple entries were clearly jests, such as this one:Yes, the jester in question did enter a real banner along with this. The joke was great and thanks for the laugh! But the last thing I need is another reason to have Hasbro's legal department after me, much less how... tasteless that banner is. (Update: I'm told it's supposed to have been animated and SPARKLE too! Ugh.) A couple others entries were the same theme with different colors, so I pared them down to my favorite version to avoid thinning out the competition.
So without further ado, here are the four finalist entries:
First up is the "Jetseer" theme.Second is the "Lone Ork" theme.Third is the "Hitchiker" theme. And last is the "Thinker" theme.
Now since this is starting a few days later than intended (darned working vacations), I'm going to keep it open a few extra days too. The poll will close next Sunday evening.
Cheers and best of luck to all who entered!

I wish I could've voted for the rainbows and ponies... Made me laugh as well, hehe.
ReplyDeleteVoted for the Thinker, think it'll look best as your logo/banner - although the other entries are great as well - not an easy choice!
I voted for Hitchhiker because it seems more fitting to the definition of "maundering".
ReplyDeleteI voted the ork in the crater for no other reason than it amuses me the most, thus captures my attention the most.
ReplyDeleteI dunno, I like them all, but the sparkling ponies hold a special place in my heart. I'd like to suggest that whichever banner wins, you add "The Pony People" as a subtitle to the banner!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to everyone that entered!
I voted Jetbiker. Because...I liked it the most?
ReplyDeleteI voted Jetseer. I liked the concept behind the Lone Ork one better, but I felt having an actual mini in the banner made enough difference to make the Jetseer a better choice.
ReplyDeleteI thought at first the "My Little Pony" banner was Rainbow Brite. [Shudder.]
ReplyDeleteI voted for the Jetseer, since it's a mini you modded/painted and in my mind has the closest association with your blog.
I voted for the Lone Ork. I think it's the most unusual banner both in terms of theme and the way it's been 'painted'. Even though it's an ork, it's still odd enough that it represents whatever you want to write about on your blog too.
ReplyDeleteThe Jetseer model is very nice, but to me is just another 'name plus picture'.
The hitchhiker banner looks too much like a move banner for me - and even if you read what the banner says, then it's just a one-off joke.
And the Thinker banner scares me! It reminds me of the Rising Sun Imperial Japanese WWII flag!
They're all decent, but the Lone Ork is my favourite! My second choice would be the Thinker as it's the second most 'ooh, how odd but interesting' inducing...
I've only just come across your blog but the posts I've read have been above average for stuff you find on the internet and very interesting to me, so both of these banners I like best reflect that.
Went with the Thinker. Looks good with the blog colors, and the Thinker and Aquila tie in with the title nicely.
ReplyDeleteI've voted for the Jetseer theme.
ReplyDeleteI find it to be quite the tribute to one of the best of your works, and also a nice way of hinting your main army. The mix of typographies in it is also quite nice, gives it a bit of a special appearance. As said previously, it's more or less just a picture with a text, but, it is the picture of one of your more accomplished works in this blog, one that you've REALLY worked with and should be proud over.
So, once again, my vote goes to the Jetseer. It binds nicely with the other colourations in your blog, it's a tribute to your work and it's simple and direct. ^^
Cheers ^^
I voted for the Jetseer, for many of the same reasons as Hussar states above.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, as you are one of the best known Autarchs of Warseer, a site one which you are highly respected, I believe it goes with two of your best known contributions to the hobby, first your work with the Eldar Bible and second your expert skill at Eldar conversions.
Perhaps if one of these had wolves there might be an arguement for another banner, but as none do...
There can be only one!
Cheers.
I voted for the Ork ... he amuses me.
ReplyDeleteI went with the Jetseer. It's always good to have a miniature in your header! And perhaps I should learn to take my own advice ...
ReplyDeleteCheers!
It's the Ork for me, just one simple reason:
ReplyDeleteGREEN IZ DA BEST!!!
:-)
(and there is nothing wrong with free goodies!)
The Ork gets my vote, assuming it is original artwork.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the Jetseer. It's a personalized mini from you and it depicts you as a gamer and how you show yourself through this blog. So personalized and simple does it for me. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Thinker.
ReplyDeleteI personally love the Eldar Version. Very nice for all of them though.
ReplyDeleteThinker stands out the most to me but still is simple enough to not be too busy. Great work on that one.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the Ork as it reminds me of the old White Dwarf issues where they would have all kinds of goofy little pics in the margins.
ReplyDeletePlus, the though of an ork meditating or out on a "spirit quest" is funny to me.
Though I do wish the text was white for easier readability.
The Eldar farseer is my second choice.
I like the thinker theme looks unique!
ReplyDeleteI voted Jetseer, mostly for the awsome lettering design. It would be cool if it also had some background going on, somthing subtle..but overall i like it.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the Lone Ork banner because I like the idea of a thoughtful Ork.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for the Hitchiker banner. Mostly because I am just a huge HHGTTG fan.
ReplyDeleteThe Jetbike Seer gets my vote! I dig the fact that it has a converted mini that you did in it.
ReplyDelete-Jim
I voted and the thinker is definetly a good choice, it's funny but also apt
ReplyDeleteJetseer FTW!
ReplyDeleteI vote for the jetseer. Jetseers are cool.
ReplyDeletei voted for the jetseer. was hard to decide between that and the lone ork. cool or funny, hm... i went with the jetseer because something cool is more likely to get someone to read this blog than something funny :P
ReplyDeleteI voted for the ork because it made me giggle
ReplyDeleteThinker all the way. While the Jetseer looks cool and all, there are an awful lot of 40K blogs that basically just have their name alongside a picture of some random model for the icon.
ReplyDeleteThe Jetbike Eldar is an amazing piece of work and I think it really shows off what people can expect from this blog.
ReplyDeleteThe Jetseer is cool, but the banner itself isn't my favorite. I almost went with the Hitchhiker because it has this '50s futuristic vibe going. The Ork one is funny too, but in the end Rodin wins.
ReplyDeleteI really think Jetseer has this one in the bag
ReplyDeleteI went with the lone Ork. Something satisfying about seeing an ork in a crater.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe it's just me....
Az Da Masta Cheef, I'z gotta vote fer Da 'Lone Ork' cuz Ork iz best!
ReplyDeleteI voted Jetseer, partly 'cos I am an Eldar player, and partly because it's an awesome model.
ReplyDeletei vote for thinker
ReplyDeleteI think the "thinker" would match your color scheme the best.
